- The dark future of Web3 and bitcoin - 

As the world becomes increasingly reliant on the internet and digital technologies, the question of who controls and benefits from these systems has become increasingly important. Web3 and bitcoin are two technologies that have the potential to disrupt traditional power structures and create a more decentralized, open web. However, there are also concerns about the dark side of these technologies, and the ways in which they could be used to further entrench existing power imbalances and even facilitate criminal activity.

One of the key promises of Web3 is the creation of a decentralized, open web that is not controlled by any single entity or group. This is achieved through the use of technologies such as blockchain, which allows for secure, transparent, and immutable record-keeping. However, there are also concerns about the potential for Web3 to be used as a tool for censorship and control. For example, governments and other powerful actors could use blockchain to create "permissioned" networks that are only accessible to certain individuals or groups, effectively creating a walled garden that is outside the reach of the open web.

Similarly, bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have the potential to revolutionize the way we think about money and financial transactions. However, there are also concerns about the dark side of bitcoin, particularly its potential use in facilitating illegal activities such as money laundering and the financing of terrorism. There have also been instances of bitcoin being used to facilitate ransomware attacks, in which hackers hold a victim's data hostage until a ransom is paid in bitcoin. Ultimately, it is and will continue to be important that we approach these technologies with caution, and work to ensure that they are used in a way that promotes the greater good.
